Appeal Court judges case in record time

by Suzanne Sheppard LEGAL HISTORY was made yesterday after the Court of Appeal heard arguments and delivered a ruling on a conviction imposed just over three months ago in the Port of Spain High Court. It was the first time an appeal had been disposed of in such a short space of time (appeals are generally not heard until several years after the original trial). Saturday 9th December, 1995 A MAN accused of murder was yesterday freed by Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde-John in the Port-of- Spain First Magistrate's Court. Martin Stephen, 28, of Waterhole, Cocorite had the charge of murder dismissed after his attorney, Martin George, made a no-case submission.
