Tobago Business Chamber: Lifting beach time limits will boost business

The Tobago Business Chamber says the Government’s decision to remove the time restrictions for people to be at beaches and rivers will help to promote greater business activity as the island’s economy slowly reopens. Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh made the announcement on Saturday at the ministry’s virtual covid19 media briefing. He said the existing covid19 health protocols are still in effect, including no consumption of alcohol, gathering in groups over ten and loud music. Martin George: Forget about Tobago Carnival for 2022

Head of the Tobago Business Chamber, Martin George, strongly believes Government should forget about staging any kind of Carnival activity for 2022, especially for Tobago. “The time frame left for planning and putting on any semblance of a carnival 2022 is insufficient and therefore, safe zone or not, carnival 2022 should not be a major consideration for Trinidad and Tobago, but more so Tobago,” George argues. According to George, not enough thought has gone into the planning of any of the events being proposed at present. “It does not appear realistic or feasible to push ahead with this half-baked duck of an idea...

Tobago Chamber: Carnival safe zone events not practical at this time

The Tobago Business Chamber is urging the Government to focus its energies on other pressing matters, instead of pushing ahead with its proposed “Taste of Carnival”. The safe zone Carnival events would allow certain Carnival activities for vaccinated persons only in safe zone arrangements deemed to pose the smallest potential COVID-19 risk. Chairman of the Tobago Business Chamber Martin George questioned why Government would move ahead with these plans when T&T was experiencing record COVID-19 daily totals. Just yesterday, more than 1,000 new virus were reported – the highest number of infections recorded since the first case was detected in March 2020. George noted...
