TTRNA to appeal Industrial Court ruling

The T&T Registered Nurses Association (TTRNA) intends to appeal its defeat in a trade dispute with the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) over its effort to recover $34,000 from a registered nurse who exceeded her annual leave entitlement.  Following the decision, late last month, the TTRNA retained attorney Martin George to advise it on appealing the Industrial Court decision. Race for top CoP post: One applicant seeks judicial review

A shortlist of candidates from the current list of seven applicants for the post of Police Commissioner is expected to be sent to President’s House ahead. This was clarified yesterday by an official as well as other sources. President Paula Mae-Weekes went on annual vacation last Saturday. She is out of the country , returning August 25. As the Office of the President is yet to receive any correspondence from the Police Service Commission (PSC) about its nominee for the country's next Commissioner of Police (CoP), the PSC has made it clear that Gary Griffith remains the acting CoP. Crown Point resident claims: I was never paid for my land

Crown Point resident Wolwin Lovell maintains that he has never received payment for a parcel of land he owns and occupies at Block D of the ANR Robinson International Airport Expansion Project. Griffith now acting as Police Commissioner

Gary Griffith is now acting as Commissioner of Police (CoP), as his three-year term has come to an end. He will act in the role until the next CoP is appointed. Guardian Media has been told that the Police Service Commission (PSC) has already completed interviews and assessments. “So, basically, right now, it’s literally for it to go to Parliament, so currently, Griffith is on a ‘short work’ for a few days as acting,” a TTPS source told Guardian Media.
