Ali freed on gun charge
RONALD ALI of Belmont who was last year charged for the illegal possession of a gun yesterday had his matter dismissed in the Port-of-Spain Magistrate’s Fourth Court after Magistrate Harry Persad upheld a no case submission made by defence attorney for the accused Martin George?
Ali was held on March 21, 1995 at Belleau Road, Belmont by PC Phillip Wilson who was on mobile patrol in a marked police vehicle.
PC Wilson told the court that he spotted Ali at a corner shed acting suspiciously, and upon searching him found a revolver.
However Magistrate Persad in dismissing the case stated that he found no nexus between the evidence and the evidence given by the police in the case.
Prosecuting in the matter was Sgt Bruzwell.
