TOBAGO BUSINESS CHAMBER and its Chairman Martin George teamed up with the Indian High Commission

TOBAGO BUSINESS CHAMBER and its Chairman Martin George teamed up last week with the Indian High Commission, bringing together a team of high powered Tobago Business persons to discuss and brainstorm business ideas and economic solutions for Tobago.

Indian High Commissioner Ambassador Sahu and his entourage flew over to Tobago and shared dinner, good conversation and business ideas with Business Executives from Pennysaver’s Supermarket, Martineau Construction and Transport, Buccoo Town Centre & Atlantic on the Edge Townhouse Development, Singh’s Hardware and Construction and a representative from the Education sector in Tobago.

Emerging from the discussions the High Commission expressed interest in setting up Business Incubators in Tobago particularly to assist small and medium sized businesses in Tobago with exploring their fullest growth and developmental potential. Also canvassed, was the idea of partnering with established training and certification institutions such as MIC, to offer specialized IT training programs, labs and equipment to enhance and improve the skills sets of the young people of Tobago.

Putting their words directly into action, the following day, Mr. George was able to arrange and facilitate a tour of the Tobago MIC Center by Ambassador Sahu and his entourage where they observed first hand, the areas where they could partner with and assist Tobago.

Ambassador Sahu pointed to the recent pledge of $150 Million US dollars in investment recently made by Indian Prime Minister Modi, to 15 Caribbean Leaders and Heads of State at the United Nations. He also pointed out the Hundreds of Trinbagonian Nationals who have received education and training through scholarship opportunities in India and indicated that there were many more opportunities for partnership and co-operation between the two Nations.

Further meetings and projects are carded as the TOBAGO BUSINESS CHAMBER forges ahead with this and other initiatives with other Embassies and Business Organizations, to increase and improve Business activity, efficiency and greater Economic output for Tobago and Tobagonians.
