Two accused fail to show, murder hearing postponed

TWO of the three California residents charged with the murder of Chanardaye Bissoon-Dookhan, mother of three, between September 6 and 7, did not appear at the Couva Magistrate’s Court on Monday due to transportation problems.

The third accused Devon Harrigangan HaHhHh, formerly of Mason Hall, Tobago, but whose last address was Fifth Street, New Settlement, Dow Village, California, was the only one who was transported by the new security arrangements.

When the matter was called, the presiding Magistrate Lianne Lee Kim, had no choice but to postpone the hearing to September29.

The three accused are Malharrie Dookhan, mother of the murdered victim (Chanardaye Bissoon-Dookhan), her sister Chitrah Dookhan, and Devon Harrigan Cunningham.

The mother and daughter are represented by attorney-at-law Selwyn Ramlal, while Martin George is representing Cunningham.
